Bored Ape Yacht Club announced on Twitter on April 25 that its Instagram page was hacked, resulting in the theft of over $2.5 million in NFT.

Hack Attack on Bored Ape Yacht Club Instagram Account

Hackers carried out an attack by sending links from BAYC’s Instagram account to people, causing them to click and link wallets. A total of four Bored Apes NFTs worth about $1 million each were stolen in this way.

The attackers sent a copy of the BAYC website to Instagram users, along with a fake link. Users have posted a fake airdrop link that will transfer assets to the scammer’s wallet when they click on the link. The community was alerted shortly after the attack was discovered.

Yuga Labs, owner of BAYC, said the phishing attack was being investigated. In total, four Bored Apes, six Mutant Apes and three Kennel NFTs were stolen. While no statement was made on compensation, BAYC co-founder CryptoGarga said victims would be contacted.
